Customer Review: Best Keyboard Ever!

When I received my iMac in Oct 2005, I sprung because the bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse option --what a disappointment that was. I'm not a touch typist, but I type quite quickly using about 6 or 7 fingers. With the Bluetooth keyboard, I acknowledged that I was typing more mistakes than I have still typed with any other keyboard I have used in the past 25 years. It literally skilled like they used marshmallows instead of springs underneath each key. When trying to type quickly, the resistance varied enjoys key to key so sometimes I hit them too hard, other times not hard sufficient. I wondered how Apple might plan such a wonderful pc and yet make the worst keyboard and mouse I had still used.

After a twosome of infuriating weeks I started looking because a replacement. At the time, Logitech arrived out with their S530 Wireless Desktop because Mac. That was an huge improvement. The keys were tons lower in profile, but the key travel was still longer than I preferred--I tend to like the light, short keystrokes of notebook pc style keyboards. The mouse included in the package was MUCH improved than the Apple Bluetooth mouse (not the mighty mouse variety) also. Still, there were problems with the Logitech solution also. One problem is that the wireless uses its own RF receiver instead of Bluetooth. This means that you tie up one of the (only 3 ) accessible USB ports to plug the dongle in. Also, the iMac's screen must cause RF interference as sometimes keystrokes and mouse movement was erratic if I plugged the RF dongle quickly to one of the USB at the back of the iMac. Instead, I have to use the little extension cord/stand to obtain the receiver closer to the keyboard. This makes the "wireless" ability a joke since the keyboard had to be right next to the dongle. More infuriatingly, however, the iMac would somehow reverse the works of the Alt and Command keys EVERY time I would start up or wake up the pc. I would then have to press the connect button on dongle and under the keyboard, to obtain them to assigned properly once more. This became very tiresome quickly. Also, the Logitech driver software uses Unsanity's Application Enhancer, which has been identified as inducing problems because those upgrading to OS X 10.5 Leopard.

When the new Aluminum iMacs arrived out I was impressed by the look of their new keyboards and inquisitive how they would sense in real use. I was a bit disappointed that Apple made up our minds not to make a filled wireless as I would have preferred the blend of wireless AND having a num keypad. I still don't know why Apple doesn't release one like that. However, since the wired keyboards were less than $50US, I made up our minds to take a dice and order one. I was previously using a USB port because the Logitech wireless receiver, so I might just plug that into one of the keyboard ports and plug the keyboard where the receiver was plugged in--net result, I really gained one additional USB port by using the wired keyboard.

When I started using the keyboard I was surprised at how quickly (and quietly) I might now type. The action is just about as perfect as I might have hoped because and the looks of the unit are spectacular. Those who have been classically trained to touch type on old keyboards, or typewriters will probably hate it, but because the rest of us, it is unbelievable. I have never used a keyboard that I like more than this one and would heartily recommend it to any individual. In detail, I just persuaded my blood brother to purchase one last week and previously he thanked me because the recommend saying it it is a huge improvement over the older, "marshmallow-y" model.

Now if only Apple would designed a Bluetooth multi-button mouse worthy of being a companion to this wonderful keyboard I would be one happy camper.

Customer Review: Excellent

This is a huge keyboard. By distant the best keyboard I have used in my life. I use it with a PC (laptop), and it works huge, but the USB 2.0 ports dont really work as 2.0 ports because me. Also, there are some keys that exist only on PC keyboards (Print Screen, and in case of laptops, adjusting volume/screen brigthness etc), but since I have my laptop's keyboard nearby it doesnt matter. Great keyboard, makes typing a LOT lighter. Would recommend it to any individual.
